Arsenal and Manchester United have reportedly been handed a major boost in signing midfielder Youri Tielemans from Leicester City. Both teams have not yet made bids so far.

The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from the King Power stadium. He has just 12 months left on his current contract and has no plans to extend the contract.

LEICESTER HAVE FINANCIAL CONCERNS THIS SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW

Many reports claimed that Youri Tielemans was likely to stay at Leicester and see out his contract. However, the Daily Telegraph report states that Foxes could be forced to sell a number of first-team players this summer. This is due to their financial concerns. A number of players including the Youri Tielemans will attract top European teams as they look to take advantage of the situation.

The report also adds that Leicester’s wages-to-turnover ratio is very high. It is now at a very unsustainable level. They reportedly have too many first-team players on big-money salaries at the club. Leicester are yet to make any signing in the summer transfer window. The club are set to lose a projected  £90m due to financial fair play regulations. This means they have to sell some players to balance the books before they even think to sign some players this summer.

ARSENAL AND MANCHESTER UNITED ARE REPORTEDLY IN A RACE TO SIGN YOURI TIELEMANS

It is thought that Foxes are willing to entertain offers between £30m and £35m for the Youri Tielemans. However, the club have so far have dismissed the rumors. Although, Tielemans are refusing to rule out a move away from the club. He said to the reporters, “An exit is not out of the question. I feel very good at Leicester, I was welcomed with open arms from day one. “But of course, you have to listen to other opportunities, you have to look at your career, and sometimes you have to make choices. “

This statement has put clubs, especially Arsenal and Manchester United on alert. Arsenal were reportedly interested in him. However, the interest has cooled down. Now, it looks like Manchester United are now trying to jump the queue. They will reportedly move for the midfielder if a deal for Frenkie De Jong collapses. However, both the clubs are not expected to pay such a high fee for the midfielder.

Tielemans initially joined Leicester on loan from Monaco in 2019. They made the move permanent a year later. He has since made a total of 158 appearances across all competitions. He has scored 24 goals and provided 24 assists so far in his Foxes career.
