Arsenal Bid Farewell To Four Players, Including 71-Goal Striker

Alexander Lacazette joined Lyon after his contract with Arsenal came to an end. He is not the only one on the exit list though. Three more youth players are on the exit list.

Lacazette joined Arsenal from Lyon in the summer of 2017 for a fee of £46.5 million. And he has led the line under three managers, Arsene Wenger, Unai Emery, and Mikel Arteta, scoring 71 goals in 206 appearances across all competitions. His final season was relatively poor. He failed to reach double figures for the first time during his time in England.

His subpar performances saw Arteta opt for Eddie Nketiah towards the end of the season. The young Englishman proved to be a sensation, regularly chipping in with goals.

However, Lacazette was known to be an influential dressing room presence in the dressing room. His teammates admired him, but ultimately his time in North London was up. He was graceful in his exit though, speaking well of his time.

With the club we decided to go apart. The club is taking a new direction and we are at the end of my contract as well. Now it is time for me to have a new experience, a new adventure.

I want to keep all the good moments I had in the club because for me it was just a pleasure to play for a club that, since I was young, I dreamt of. I’m really happy to have played for five years for Arsenal. I’ll keep in contact with my teammates, with the coaches, with the club.

Other Business Happening At Arsenal

The club’s other three departures are Jonathan Dinzeyi, Joel Lopes, and Jordan McEneff. The trio played for the Gunners youth sides but did not make the cut for senior football.

Gabriel Jesus will be announced as a new Arsenal player in the next few days. They were also in the mix for Leeds winger Raphinia, but that deal seems to be off for now.
