Arsenal can make a bid for Manuel Locatelli amidst Chelsea’s interest

Manuel Locatelli Arsenal

Chelsea’s battle with Arsenal has become a familiar episode in the ongoing transfer window with the latest being over the Italian Manuel Locatelli. Chelsea snooped in on prime Arsenal target Mykhailo Mudryk at the last possible minute. The Blues also won the race to a loan move for Joao Felix. Now, the two clubs are at it again over a move for the Italian midfielder.

Manuel Locatelli could be on his way to Arsenal

Locatelli is a player that has been under Arsenal’s radar in the past. He was linked with a move to North London before he signed for Juventus. With the internal chores at Juventus not being favorable towards the Italian, he could well be on his way out. Arsenal are keen on finding reinforcements in the middle of the park. Given the injury woes encountered by Thomas Partey in the past, Locatelli could be an ideal signing for the gunners. Team depth is one of the prime factors in the battle for the Premier League title and the North London side will be fully aware of that. However, Chelsea would be keen on signing the Italian too. With Ngolo Kante aging, the West London side would be looking for alternatives.

Smart signing?

With both Chelsea and Arsenal willing to go big for Declan Rice next summer, it wouldn’t be the worst move to keep an alternative ready for things not going according to plan. The Italian has an identical playstyle to that of Rice. Locatelli has been known to provide solid defensive resilience alongside an occasional eye for the goal. Although there has been no official bid as of now from either side, the turbulent relationship between the player and Juventus could play a catalyst to a brand new transfer saga in the near future.
