Arsenal defender William Saliba is now the first name on the team sheet that the Gunners are looking for. Mikel Arteta has also said that he has settled in very nicely after spending three years on a loan. The French defender is so important that he even played in the Carabao Cup defeat against Brighton. Hence, this clearly shows that Arsenal owners have to give him an improved contract extension fast.
The current brilliant performances also have made many Gunners fans ask Arteta to make him the future captain of the club. He also has now a chant made by fans. Hence, he is loved by the Gunner fans. Gabriel Magalhaes his partner at center-back has also praised his performances. Many football experts have also said that he has returned to the Gunners as a more mature and better player this season.
THE FRENCH DEFENDER GAVE KARL HEIN ENCOURAGEMENT
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made the decision to play Karl Hein in the Carabao Cup against Brighton. He started the game ahead of Matt Turner. Matt Turner was expected to play in all the cup competitions this season. Hence, it was a surprise to many. The selection did not start well. Karl Hein made a mistake and gave away a penalty to Brighton in the first half. The penalty was scored by former Gunners forward Danny Welbeck. This equaliser goal helped Brighton a platform for a 3-1 win.
However, William Saliba made a point that Hein’s mistake did not effect him on his debut. After conceding the penalty goal, Saliba and Rob Holding encouraged him. The French defender even patted on his back. Hence, he had a good performance after that. Karl Hein in the next two goals it was very hard to save these shots. Therefore, many have seen the gesture and praised the leadership of William Saliba.
Arsenal will hope that the senior players can also be like Saliba that encourages the younger players. This will help Arteta have a positive mood in the dressing room. The Gunners are already in a positive mood in terms of winning most of the matches this season.
