USA former coach has said that Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner should leave the club in the January transfer window. However, the Gunners have no intention to sell their second-choice goalkeeper.

The players has also not made any indication that he wants to leave the Premier League giants. However, his brilliant performances in the World Cup will surely attract potential interest from teams.

THE PERFORMANCE OF MATT TURNER AT THE FIFA WORLD CUP

USA made the decision to start Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner in the goal. However, at start, many fans criticized the decision of the coach. This was because Matt Turner is the second-choice goalkeeper of the Gunners. Hence, he did not play many games before the World Cup. Therefore, many thought that Matt Turner was only starting because he was with a top Premier League club. However, it looks like Matt Turner silenced all the critics during the World Cup.

The goalkeeper has made great saves for the national team. This helped them qualify for the knockout rounds. However, the saves by the Arsenal goalkeeper could not prevent USA from losing to Netherlands. Many experts also praised him for keeping cool at the back. They also praised his distribution and passing skills. Hence, it looks like USA football experts and former players and coaches are advising Turner to leave the Gunners to become a first-choice goalkeeper for a new club.

ARSENAL DO NOT HAVE ANY INTENTION TO SELL THE AMERICAN GOALKEEPER

Former USA goalkeeper coach Bruce Arena has said that Matt Turner needs to consider options in the January transfer window. He further said,

“Matt can’t be at fault for the three goals against and made several great saves in the second half to keep the US alive in the game. Like the team, this was the first time he was truly tested at the World Cup. “Now, Matt’s going to fall in line with the likes of Brad Friedel and Kasey Keller one day. “He has to move out of Arsenal to start playing on a regular basis, but he’s proven himself to be a very good goalkeeper for the US.”

However, it looks they are only comments and nothing else. The report also claims that Arsenal have no intention to sell him in the January transfer window. It also claims that the Gunners have finally found their second-choice goalkeeper in the form of Matt Turner. Hence, Mikel Arteta does not want to sell him in the near future. However, the rumor will certainly start in the next summer transfer window. There will be a number of teams from Europe that will want him.

However, the clubs will likely be a level above Arsenal. Hence, it is less likely that Matt Turner will get a move to the top European side as a first-choice goalkeeper. Therefore, Matt Turner will have to take a step down to secure regular first team football. Hence, Matt Turner will have a decision to make in the summer transfer window.
