Arsenal have reportedly made a bid to sign Weston McKennie in the January transfer window. However, at the moment, Leeds United lead the race for his signature.

Leeds United have also agreed on personal terms with the Juventus midfielder. A report also claims that the Premier League side is close to finding a full agreement with Juventus.

Arsenal have reportedly made a bid to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie in the January transfer window. The report also claims that the bid is worth 30 million. McKennie is very much open to the move. He would very much like to leave Juventus in the January transfer window. Juventus are also open to selling him for the right price. This potential sale will also help Juventus manage their troubled financial books this season. Hence, McKennie is not the only one likely to leave the Italian giants.

McKennie has played got good game time this season. However, this also makes him one of the big saleable assets at the club. Juventus also are optimistic about taking advantage of the Arsenal midfield situation. Mikel Arteta wants to sign a midfielder before the end of the January transfer window. However, the Gunners are failing to find a midfielder that fits his style of play and the budget. Hence, it looks like McKennie fits both of the conditions. However, the Gunners will have to beat the competition of Leeds United.

LEEDS UNITED ARE PUSHING TO GET THE DEAL DONE IN THE COMING DAYS

According to to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United are pushing for the deal of Weston McKennie. They want to complete the deal before any other top club enters the race. They have also already done their homework. Weston McKennie has already had conversations with Leeds manager Jesse Marsch, Brendan Aaronson, and Tyler Adams. Hence, after positive discussions, McKennie has accepted personal terms. Therefore, it looks like Arsenal have to cover a big ground to hijack the potential transfer.

Fabrizio Romano further said,

“Understand talks between Leeds and Juventus for Weston McKennie are now progressing well. Parties are discussing key details, not done deal yet — after green light on player side. Negotiations will continue in the next hours.

Hence, it is clear that the deal is in its advanced stages. However, there is no full agreement with Juventus for the sale. A report has also claimed that Juventus have encouraged Weston McKennie to enter the race.

However, Arsenal are reportedly not ready to enter the bidding war for Weston McKennie. It looks like the USA international is their backup signing for main transfer target Moises Caicedo. Hence, it looks Leeds United may well win the race for the signature of Weston McKennie. Hence, they should push for the deal to get done in this January transfer window to avoid competition.
