THE IMPACT OF WILLIAM SALIBA AT ARSENAL

According to reports, Arsenal have held initial talks to extend the contract of William Saliba. The defender was signed by the Premier League club in 2019. However, he was loaned out for the next three seasons in Ligue 1. Hence, the loan experience gave him time to mature. Therefore, Saliba returned to the Gunners as an experienced defender.

He has started in all of the games in the Premier League this season. We can also say that he has impressed the Arsenal fans with his defending skills. He has also impressed the Gunners manager Mikel Arteta. Mikel Arteta is impressed so much that he has shifted Ben White to right-back to accommodate Saliba in the center-back position. However, due to him spending three years on loan, Saliba’s contract is going to expire in two seasons with the Premier League.

THE CONTRACT TALKS FOR THE FRENCH DEFENDER HAVE ALREADY STARTED

The report adds that Gunners are already aware that Saliba’s contract will expire in the next two years. It also adds that initial contract talks have already started between the club and the agent. The report also claims that talks are going on in a positive direction. Both parties want to sign a new contract as soon as possible.

William Saliba is currently one of the lowest earners for Arsenal in the first-team squad. Hene, Arsenal knows that it will not take long before the interested teams start offering him more lucrative contracts. Therefore, the Gunners are working hard on the contract extension of the young French defender. Although, a number of European teams are still monitoring Saliba’s future at the Premier League club.

However, Arsenal are optimistic about extending the contract of William Saliba. The Gunners are also hoping to extend the contract of Bukayo Saka. Hence, the main aim in the January transfer window for the owners will be to tie up exciting youngsters for long-term contracts with the club.
