Arsenal legend Martin Keown has said that Mikel Arteta was ruthless with his decisions. However, he also said that it was the correct decision.

Mikel Arteta substituted off Albert-Sambi Lokonga and Rob Holding. However, they did not play well in the Europa League defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

MIKEL ARTETA HAS TO BE RUTHLESS TO WIN TROPHIES THIS SEASON

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has claimed that Mikel Arteta was rightfully ruthless with his players. The players were Albert-Sambi Lokonga and Rob Holding. Both of the players were to blame for the first goal against PSV Eindhoven. Hence, Arteta immediately took them off. Although, the Gunners legend Martin Keown feels Arteta made the right decision.

He further said,

“Looking at Rob Holding there [for the first goal], you’ve got to stay goal-side. A big man has come on [De Jong], so Holding’s got to come across. Lokonga could do more with the initial ball and then he just switches off. He’s got to be breaking every sinew in his body to get back there and get a block in but he doesn’t. Arteta was pretty ruthless because both players were hooked soon after. It’s a tough school there.”

Hence, the Arsenal players will have to avoid making mistakes to win trophies.

ARSENAL HAVE TO MAKE SIGNINGS IN THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW THIS SEASON

The majority of European clubs including Arsenal do not tend to be busy in the January transfer window. They sign players only if there is a major injury in the squad. However, the Gunners will have to break their tradition this season. They will have to give the necessary funds to manager Mikel Arteta to improve and make the squad competitive.

Arteta reportedly wants to sign a centre-back, a midfielder, and a right winger. Hence, the owners must try their best to get Arteta his preferred signings. They also need to get some of the players out of the squad. Rob Holding and Lokonga need a move away from the club. They also need it because they are not achieving their personal ambitions with Arsenal.

Arsenal owners will hope to find the best solution to arrange funds for Mikel Arteta in the January transfer window. However, the likes of Rob Holding and Albert-Sambi Lokonga will have to improve vastly to stay at the club beyond January.
