It is now quite evident that Arsenal are planning big for the summer transfer window. Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz is the latest addition to the list drawn up by Arsenal. The Gunners are running for a position in the top four, and are accordingly planning their moves. However, their top four bid hit a low after back-to-back to losses in the league. There were several shortcomings in those defeats, and Mikel Arteta wants to resolve them.

The Gunners’ manager has outlined that the team needs a central-midfielder. After Keiran Tierney’s season-ending injury, Arteta played Granit Xhaka at left-back against Brighton. The move backfired disastrously as Thomas Partey could not dominate the midfield as usual without Xhaka. Arsenal lost 2-1 at home, leaving them in the fifth position in the table.

Arsenal has now added Douglas Luiz to his wish-list for the summer. Currently, the North Londoners lack squad depth, and this needs a solution. As a result, Arsenal want to invest in many positions, acquiring healthy back-ups. Moreover, Luiz is plying his trade in the premier league for a decent time, and would quickly settle-in with the Gunners. Luiz joined the Midlands club in 2019 from Manchester City.
