Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed an injury setback to Oleksandr Zinchenko. The statement came after the win against Liverpool.
He hopes that the Ukranian’s injury is not too serious. However, the injury will be known after tests by the medical team of the club.
OLEKSANDR ZINCHENKO’S STRUGGLES WITH INJURIES
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko has suffered another injury. He has also said that the injury prevented Zinchenko from playing against Liverpool. However, he hopes the injury is not too serious. If the injury is serious, it will be a setback for him on a personal level and for the Gunners. The Gunners need to have all players available for the busy schedule.
Mikel Arteta further said,
“He had again another muscle injury and we’ll see how it is in the next few days.”
Arsenal are currently without the likes of Mohamed Elneny and Emile Smith Rowe. Both the players are out with long-term injuries. Hence, Arteta will hope that Zinchenko also has not suffered a long-term injury. This will hamper their hopes to qualify for the Champions League and other cup matches.
ARSENAL FANS ARE HOPING THAT MIKEL ARTETA ALREADY HAS A PLAN IN PLACE IN CASE OF A LONG-TERM INJURY
Arsenal fans will be hoping that Mikel Arteta already has a plan in place. This plan could be activated if the injury of Zinchenko is long-term. The left-back has already suffered knee and calf problems. Hence, more injuries can even see the left back missing the whole season. However, this seems unlikely at the present. Although, Arteta and the coaching staff have to be ready for the worst-case scenario.
The first solution is they can sign another left-back if the injury is serious. However, it is unlikely as Arsenal are reportedly going to spend on a right-winger in January. Therefore, the best-preferred idea would be playing Kieran Tierney. They also need to keep him fit. Therefore, during the busy schedule, Arteta can play Takheiro Tomiyasu as left-back.
Arsenal fans will be hoping that Mikel Arteta deals with the injury problems of his players. The Gunners are currently top of the Premier League table. Hence, the fans and the manager both will be hoping that they can fight for the Premier League title with Manchester City.
