Michael Owen has said Arsenal will finish behind Manchester City in the title race. This statement was made despite the Gunners being on top of the table.
He also says that the Gunners will lose their focus at some part of the season. However, he says that Manchester City looks unbeatable at the moment.
THE SUCCESS STORY OF ARSENAL IN THIS SEASON
Arsenal were backed to finish in the top 6 in the Premier League this season. However, no one backed them to finish in the top 4 this season. Everyone thought they had signed Manchester City players that were not good enough for the Premier League. However, over the course of this season, people’s thinking has changed. The Manchester City rejects like Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have brought a winning mentality to the club.
Gabriel Jesus is scoring regular scores for the Gunners. Whereas, Zinchenko has brought stability to the left-back position. Despite being new signings, the players have become leaders at the club. Arsenal have also managed to get signings that are good for competition. The new signings like Fabio Viera, Marquinhos, and Matt Turner have added competition and depth to the squad.
THE GUNNERS ARE STILL NOT GOING TO WIN THE TITLE EASILY
Many expect the Gunners to keep their good form going. If the good form continues, trophies will start arriving at the club. However, the Premier League trophy will take time to arrive at Emirates. Michael Owen has said that Manchester City are very ahead of Mikel Arteta’s side in the title. However, he expects Arsenal to compete for the title till the end of this season.
He also said,” On that form, who is going to stop Manchester City?” asked Owen.
“I know Arsenal are flying, at the moment and they are at the top of the Premier League table.“But, over the course of a season, if they keep playing like that, then there’s no stopping them.”
He also said that it is a new feeling for the majority of the players that may overwhelm them in the long term this season.
Another point is Arsenal are also focusing on the Europa League. Hence, there is going to be a dip in the League form for the Gunners at some point. Therefore, Manchester City with the most superior squad on paper will overtake them at some point in the league.
