This week, Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey faced Manchester United, and it was claimed that Arsenal scouts were there at Old Trafford to observe the match.

The 23-year-old Frenchman was extensively linked to a move to the Gunners during the summer transfer window, but nothing ultimately happened. Arsenal reportedly still have interest, according to Turkish Football.

Scouts from Arsenal watched Sacha Boey play against Man United

Over the past 2.5 years, Arsenal has seldom made any blunders in terms of hiring. Since 2021, Mikel Arteta and Edu have developed a strong working relationship. They have been successful with almost every signing they have made.

The summer saw the Gunners searching for a new defender. A transfer for Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey was likely. But Arsenal decided to go with Jurrien Timber. The Dutchman is a wonderful player, he made his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest in August. But unfortunately he sustained a long-term injury in that match. The last two months of the season will mark Timber’s return to competition. Turkish Football is now claiming that the Gunners have shown an interest in signing Boey.

It has come to light that this season, Boey’s performance in the Champions League was observed by scouts from Arsenal. He scored on the opening day against Copenhagen. He also made an impact against Manchester United in a 3-2 victory earlier this week at Old Trafford. Scouts from the North London club reportedly saw Boey there. The source claims that if a strong offer is made for him in the January transfer window, he will be sold.

Boey is not a necessity for the Gunners right now

Jurrien Timber’s injury was a severe setback for Arsenal. The adaptable Dutch player is capable of playing in any position across the back four, including central midfield. He would have provided Arteta with a wide range of alternatives. But the Gunners manager will now be without him for several months.

Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are still the right-back options for the Gunners. Thomas Partey has also played there. Young Reuell Walters, who is a tremendous talent, is also a member of the academy.

Sacha Boey may be “amazing,” but Arsenal doesn’t need him now.
