Arsenal should not move for their former striker Alexandre Lacazette in the January transfer window. This is despite his current brilliant form with Lyon in the Ligue 1.

However, the Gunners should not make a move for him in January. This will also help them avoid the mistakes they have made in the past years in the transfer windows.

A small majority of Arsenal fans have requested the club to sign Alexandre Lacazette in the January transfer window. This is after the major injury to their star striker Gabriel Jesus. It is also partly due to his brilliant form this season. The French forward has scored 9 goals in 15 matches this season for his boyhood club, Lyon. He has just returned to the French giants after leaving the Gunners on a free transfer this season. However, it looks like the Gunners fans very much continue to love him.

There is also a section of Arsenal fans requesting the termination of the loan spell of Nicolas Pepe. Nicolas Pepe is on loan at Ligue 1 club OGC Nice from the Gunners. This is after he has struggled to get game-time under Mikel Arteta. However, for Nice, Nicolas Pepe has provided brilliant glimpses of his old days. Hence, a section of Gunners fans wants both of their struggling players back at the club. Although, the truth is that Arsenal does not need Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette.

Arsenal does need to sign a new striker in the January transfer window. However, they should not sign an aged striker to again ignite the same problem over the years. Before Arteta arrived, the Gunners had one of the oldest squads in the Premier League. Hence, he had to sell these players or release them for free to get their high wages off the book. This included players like Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Mustafi, and many more players.

Hence, the re-signing of Lacazette would again cause the same age and wage problem. Therefore, Mikel Arteta should try to sign a young or an established striker. Mikel Arteta has always made the point that he would like to reduce the average of the squad. Hence, it is also clear that Nicolas Pepe will also be sold at the end of the season. Therefore, the fans should trust the judgment of Edu Gaspar and Arteta to provide them with the perfect signings.

Arsenal will have to pay a premium for these established or young players. However, these potential new signings will help them build a team for the future. These young players will also bring the trait of a winning mentality to the squad. The experienced players do bring experience. However, some of them lose the hunger to compete for titles every season.
