Arsenal transfer target Mykhaylo Mudryk reportedly does not prefer a move to Chelsea

Mykhailo Mudryk

Arsenal transfer target Mykhaylo Mudryk reportedly does not prefer a move to Chelsea. The Blues are also ready to make a bid for the Ukrainian winger in the January transfer window.

However, the winger only prefers a move to the Gunners in the Premier League. Although, the Gunners are having problems coming to an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk on the transfer fee.

CHELSEA AND MYKHAYLO MUDRYK TRANSFER LINKS FULL STORY

According to reports, Chelsea are trying to overtake Arsenal with the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk. The reports also claim that the Blues are ready to make a bigger bid for the winger. Hence, the Premier League giants also had a meeting with Shakhtar Donetsk board officials. They also attended the game of Chelsea against Manchester City. The Blues are also hoping to have positive talks with the selling club and the player in the upcoming days.

However, the transfer is currently complicated for Arsenal and Chelsea. This is because Shakhtar are still asking for 85 million for their star player. Hence, both the interested clubs are not ready to pay that much money for him. This is because the winger has not played in any other top European leagues. He has only played in the Ukrainian league till now. The only reason they are asking for more money is because of his brilliant goalscoring form in the Champions League this season.

ARSENAL IS STILL THE PRIORITY TRANSFER FOR THE UKRAINIAN WINGER

According to reports, Mykhaylo Mudryk is still pushing for the Arsenal transfer. The report also claims that the winger is pushing his agent to convince Shakhtar to sell him for a lower price. It also claims that the winger has also had a conversation with manager Mikel Arteta at the start of the January transfer window. However, there is still a big gap in the transfer valuation. The Ukrainian side have made it clear that they want a club-record fee of 85 million for their star winger.

Shakhtar Donetsk deputy sporting director Carlo Nicolini has also said that the club have balanced their financial books this year. Hence, there is no urgency in selling Mykhaylo Mudryk. He further said,

Given that we have no need for transfers, we said in due time that we evaluate the player stronger than some other profiles, such as Antony. This is the benchmark,

However, Arsenal are also taking the example of PSV selling Cody Gakpo to Liverpool in January for 50 million in their negotiations.

Hence, it is clear that Arsenal and Chelsea both will have to first convince Shakhtar Donetsk to reduce their demands. At the moment, the winger is traveling to Turkey for the training camp with the Ukrainian club. However, there is a full possibility that one of the Premier League clubs agrees on the transfer fee with Shakhtar Donetsk in the coming days.
