Arsenal will reportedly not name the potential signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk in the first-team squad. It is because the winger is born after 1st January 2001.

Hence, the Gunners can have him on the team without naming him in the squad. Therefore, the Gunners will also have a number of places for potential signing in the January transfer window.

ARSENAL AND MYKHAYLO MUDRYK TRANSFER LINKS FULL STORY

According to reports, Arsenal are in positive negotiations with Shakhtar Donetsk over a possible January transfer of Mykhaylo Mudryk. The reports also claim that both clubs have not agreed on a final fee. However, all the sides in the deal feel that a full agreement is close. Hence, it looks like the Ukrainian winger is finally getting his dream move. The report also claims that Mykhaylo Mudryk has agreed on personal terms with the Premier League giants.

Therefore, there is no problem on the personal terms side. However, Shakhtar continues to ask a fee of over 80 million for their star winger. Although, it looks like they are ready to negotiate a lower fee. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has also made Mudryk the priority target for the January transfer window. It is because of the knee injury to their star striker Gabriel Jesus. Arteta sees Mudryk as a potential striker. Hence, he is likely to use Mykhaylo Mudryk as a striker till Jesus recovers from his injury.

THE GUNNERS WILL NOT HAVE TO REGISTER THE UKRANIAN WINGER IN THE SQUAD

According to official rules, Arsenal will not need to register the potential signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk. This is because he was born after 1st January 2001. The rule book says,

“An Under 21 player is defined as one who is under the age of 21 on 1st January in the year in which the season commences.”Under-21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad. For the 2022/23 campaign, Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 2001.”

Hence, this rule clearly means that Arsenal can register Mykhaylo Mudryk as a U-21 player. The Gunners have also named William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli, Marquinhos, Bukayo Saka, and Karl Hein in the same way. Hence, this potentially will help them sign more players in the January transfer window. It will also not have any effect on the non-homegrown policy. They still have the chance to sign 3 overseas players in the January transfer window.

Hence, it looks like Mykhaylo Mudryk is going to be one of the brilliant signings for Arsenal. However, the Gunners need to agree on a fee to close the deal. They have to seal the deal in the January transfer window to avoid any last-minute interest from other clubs. However, the indication is clear from the player, that he only wants to sign for the Gunners.
