According to BBC Sport, Manchester City have agreed to a €55 million with €10 million add-ons deal with Barcelona for Ferran Torres. Barcelona look to strengthen their forward line by signing the Spaniard. Moreover, Torres believes that he will get more game time at Barcelona than at Manchester City.

Manchester City signed Ferran Torres from Valencia in the summer of 2020. However, due to tough competition in attack, he is struggling to get regular game time at the club. Therefore, he believes he can help Barcelona in their rebuild phase. He has scored 16 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens.

Barcelona are creating a good amount of chances to win a game comfortably. However, they aren’t getting the finish they need from their forward line. This lack of finishing quality is haunting Barcelona and costing them crucial points in the league. Ferran Torres can help Barcelona solve this issue to some extent and will also help them to create more chances.

Xavi likes players who can play wide and provide width to the game. Moreover, Torres has played for Spain under Luis Enrique. The Spanish manager plays a similar style of football to that of Barcelona. In addition, Torres has already played with some of the Barcelona players at Spain which will help him settle down quickly.

What does Ferran Torres have to offer Barcelona?

Torres can play on either side of the field as a winger or as a number 9, despite having spent most of his career out wide. He is right-footed but can also play with his left, therefore he can play as a traditional or inverted winger. One of his most notable qualities is his versatility, which is certainly one of the reasons Barcelona is interested in him.

In addition, he has made 18 appearances as a center-forward for Manchester City, with the remainder split between the left and right wings. He most recently played as a striker for Spain against Italy in the Nations League semi-final and scored a brace. Torres’ dribbling, positioning, finishing, and physical traits such as speed and height are all his standout qualities.

He is a technically brilliant player who can thrive in a variety of tactical formations, which speaks to about his versatility. His close control will help him to excel in possession-based football. Moreover, his speed and directness are devastating for opponents on counterattacks and attacking play.

This is a great opportunity for both Barcelona and Ferran Torres to shock the world with their qualities. However, both the club and player will have to be on the same wavelength to become a huge success. The manager has to take care that the player is deployed correctly and properly used and the player should do the best he can. Since Torres is still young, he will have to be explained a few things and he will also learn a few more things to improve as a player and also improve Barcelona as a team.
