Barcelona Look Toward Trio For Strengthening Squad

Fc barcelona Memphis depay

Barcelona endured a torrid time in 2021/22. They saw the departure of Lionel Messi and dropped down to the Europa League. However, they seemed to bounce back in the second half of the season. Now with Xavi Hernandez at the helm, the Catalans would look to bounce back.

Three signings have been identified to initiate a rebuild. First on their list is Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. The Polish marksman has made his desire to leave Bayern Munich explicitly clear.

I just want to leave Bayern. Loyalty and respect are more important than the work. The best thing to do is find a solution together. Something has died in me, I need new emotions.

Lewandowski to Onet Sport

Lewandowski prefers a move to the Nou Camp, although other clubs have expressed an interest in signing him as well. Jules Kounde of Sevilla is another target for Barcelona. The defender has proven to be one of La Liga’s best from time to time. His proficiency on the ball and versatility has impressed Xavi, and he wants to bring him to the Nou Camp.

They face stiff competition from Chelsea at the moment for Kounde. However, it is reported that Kounde himself prefers a move to Barcelona. Another one on the list is Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva. The midfielder has three years on his contract. But reports claim that he wants to move closer to home in Portugal.

The Financial Troubles At Barcelona

Barcelona have big ambitions this summer. But their current financial situation is making it difficult for them to fulfil them. The last few years have seen them spent exorbitant amounts of money who have not been able to get any return on the investment. At the same time, their wage bill has gone off the charts. The years of mismanagement are finally getting to them.

They will try to offload some of their unwanted players to fund their transfers. Sergino Dest, Oscar Mingueza, Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti are some of the names that have been touted for an exit.

Frenkie de Jong may also be sacrificed to raise funds, although Barcelona are not so keen on his sale. It remains to be seen if Barcelona can get these deals over the line. Provided they do, they will have a serious squad next season.
