Bayern Munich want at least €60m (£52m) if they are to sell Robert Lewandowski. Earlier this week, Barcelona made an offer worth €40m (£34.4m) for Lewandowski. Bayern Munich rejected this offer saying that Robert Lewandowski was not for sale despite there being just a year left on the contract.
Lewandowski has told the German club that he isn’t looking to extend his contract. He has explicitly stated in a presser that he is looking for a move away from Allianz Arena. Speaking to reporters post an international match for Poland, Lewandowski had this to say:
“My era at Bayern is over. I don’t see any possibility to continue playing for this club anymore. Bayern is a serious club and I believe they won’t keep me, I don’t want to play there anymore. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don’t stop me”
The move comes after Barcelona’s offer worth €40m (£34.4m) was rejected by Bayern Munich
Barcelona and Chelsea are keen on signing the services of the striker this summer. However, Barcelona is the frontrunner to sign the Polish international. Moreover, multiple reports have emerged of Lewandowski’s desire to move to Barcelona this summer. However, Bayern Munich has no interest in selling the striker. Oliver Kahn, the Chief executive officer at Bayern Munich, was adamant that Bayern would be “stupid” to sell the player.
“We would be stupid to sell a player who scores 30 to 40 goals per season,” the former Bayern and Germany goalkeeper said. “He has a contract until June 2023 and we’ll definitely have him with us for another season.”
However, recent reports have emerged that Bayern would listen to offers in the region of €60m (£52m) for the striker. Xavi is determined to bring the center forward to Camp Nou this summer. Xavi views Lewandowski as an ideal player to help his side compete for the big trophies again.
Lewandowski was Europe’s top scorer last season. He scored 50 goals in 46 appearances for Bayern Munich. He was clinical in helping Bayern clinch the Bundesliga yet again this season. Barcelona remain deeply entrenched in talks with Manchester United over Frenkie de Jong. If the sale for De Jong goes through, this would free up funds to bring Lewandowski to Camp Nou.
