Although Robert Lewandowski has made his intention clear to leave Bayern Munich, the higher-ups are not willing to sell the Polish striker. Lewandowski has cut an unhappy figure in recent weeks, talking about how he feels like his time at the German giants has come to an end.
The 33-year-old has stated unequivocally that he intends to leave Bayern this summer. It is thought that Camp Nou is one of his favourite places to visit.
I think Bayern should invest the money they can get for me than keep me until the end of the contract. I don’t want to force anything. That’s not the point. It’s all about finding the best solution.
I am leaving because I want more emotions in my life. They didn’t want to listen to me until the end. Something inside me went out. And it is impossible to get over it. Even if you want to be professional, you can’t make up for it.
I can’t imagine further cooperation, after what has happened over the last few months. A transfer will be the best solution. I trust that Bayern won’t stop me, just because they can.
Bayern’s Stance on Lewandowski
However, the German heavyweights intend to keep hold of the Poland international because he has more than a year left on his contract.
Hasan Salihamidzic, the sporting director at Bayern, stated that the team intends for Lewandowski to return to training with the team on July 12. Director Oliver Kahn reflects these sentiments.
It is not difficult to see why they want to keep a hold of Lewandowski. He has proven to be one of the world’s best strikers in recent years. A player like him can take any team up a notch easily. Meanwhile, Bayern completed the signing of Sadio Mane to cover for any possible departure.
