Borussia Dortmund looking to sign a new striker within the next two weeks

Borussia Dortmund are on the market to sign a new striker for the squad. This is due to Sebastian Haller‘s diagnosis of testicular cancer. The former Ajax striker, who was a replacement for Erling Haaland, will undergo chemotherapy after the discovery of the malignant tumor. Now, Dortmund are looking to sign a new striker within the next two weeks.

According to WAZ, the Dortmund hierarchy will bring a new striker within the next week or two. This new striker will be signed temporarily until Haller is fit to play in the Bundesliga again. However, the lack of funding is a major hindrance in this process. Moreover, Dortmund is looking to sign someone who is relatively cheap and is willing to sign on a short-term basis. A deal this late in the transfer window seems unlikely, however, the BVB bosses are trying their best.

Several strikers are being linked with Dortmund. Edin Dzeko, Edison Cavani, and Marcus Thuram are some of the names on the list of strikers. However, according to recent reports, BVB is in the race to sign Hella Verona striker Giovani Simeone. Simeone is the most preferred replacement for Haller. The Hellas Verona striker scored an impressive 17 goals and six assists for his striker. This impressive performance helped Verona achieve the ninth position in Serie A. Now, it seems unlikely that Hellas Verona will let Simeone go on a short-term basis. The player is incredibly important to the side and a loan move is out of the question.

BVB manager Edin Terzic had already stated that there was no hurry to buy a striker this summer. In the DFB-Pokal first round, Terzic used a front three of Adyemi, Moukoko and Malen. There are high chances that the trio will start again for BVB’s first match against Leverkusen this weekend
