Borussia Dortmund switch focus to player sales

Borussia Dortmund will now turn their attention towards player sales after completing the signing of Sebastian Haller. Dortmund have had a fantastic transfer window this year. What’s remarkable is that there might be more to come, given that the window hasn’t closed yet.

Sebastian Haller is the eighth signing of Borussia Dortmund. He is joining the Black and Yellows on a four-year contract from Ajax. This signing ensures that Borussia Dortmund have finally found a replacement for Erling Haaland.

Haaland, who had a stellar career playing for the club has departed them now. He is now hoping that this stellar form carries on to his new club: Manchester City. Now, to buy players, they have to generate revenue first. So, the club is now focusing more on player sales.

Dortmund and their brilliant track record of developing young talents.

Borussia Dortmund are one of the best clubs in the world when it comes to the development of youngsters. As a club, they seamlessly integrate the young talents into their first team which helps accelerate their development. Christian Pulisic, Ousmane Dembele, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Jadon Sancho, and, most recently, Erling Haaland are some of the superstars developed by the club.

This year too, several players are free to leave Borussia Dortmund. Manuel Akanji heads that list after rejecting a contract extension offered by the club. He has been linked with several clubs such as Manchester United, and Juventus but a concrete offer is yet to be made.

Nico Schulz is free to leave. So is Thorgan Hazard, that is, if a suitable bid arrives for the Belgian. Hazard has been on the radar of Newcastle United this summer. Dortmund would like to sign David Raum from TSG Hoffenheim. But, to do that, they will have to generate some revenue through player sales.

Needless to say, this transfer window has been a very busy one for Dortmund. However, this is just the beginning and it is not entirely out of bounds to expect the club to make some more signings.
