Bruno Lage hails Wolves new signing Hwang Hee-Chan

Wolverhampton Wanderers - Wolves FC

Wolves boss Bruno Lage has heaped praise on summer recruit Hwang Hee-chan following his positive impact at Molineux. Bruno Lage says it was a “special day” for Hwang Hee-chan. As he scored twice to lead Wolves to their first home win of the season against Newcastle.

The on-loan RB Leipzig striker has been in good form. Netting three goals in four appearances since arriving in the Premier League in the summer window. Including a brace against Newcastle at Molineux on Saturday.

Boss Bruno Lage admitted Wolves had been crying out for Hwang Hee-chan to hit top form. They have now won three of their last four games and climb to 10th in the Premier League. After their first top-flight home win, and goals, of the season.

Lage knows he will be key to Wolves’ hopes this term. He said: “He has adapted to the Premier League, he fits our way of playing because we need a player like him. “I believe the players want to play with the ball. Top players can enjoy our game and he is a top player, like the other guys.

South Korean international Hwang has eased some of the workloads off teammate Raul Jimenez in Wolves, following the Mexican’s return to fitness this season. And the two combined for both goals against Newcastle.

Lage was reluctant to compare Hwang to his South Korea international team-mate Son Heung-min, who has scored 109 goals for Tottenham and wants him to always think about his rivals for a starting spot.

Hwang is on loan from RB Leipzig with Wolves holding a £13million option to buy and is pushing to start every game with Jonny (knee) and Pedro Neto (knee) remain out for Lage with Neto not expected back until the new year.

Wolves and Hwang now head off for the international break, with a West Midlands derby against rivals Aston Villa awaiting them when they return.
