Pundit Tony Cascarino suggested that Jurgen Klopp should replan his strategy for his new signing Alexis Mac Allister this season.
Mac Allister joined Liverpool from Premier League rivals Brighton. Reds payed a sum of £35 million for the worldcup winner as he was the first new signing to arrive at Mersyside this summer.
However the Argentine struggled against Wolves on Satuday. He looked exhausted in the field due to the international break and hence Klopp subbed him off in the second half.
The manager knew that Mac Allister was struggling at heart of their midfield as he was low in energy. Having only arrived at Mersyside on Friday morning after playing against Bolivia, but the German might have done a mistake by naming him in the starting line-up.
Tony Cascarino also claims that Klopp shouldn’t have started Mac Allister on Saturday. He discussed the matter and said :-
“Liverpool were awful in the first half, looked lacklustre.
“I mentioned earlier about jet lag, Mac Allister clearly was jet-lagged. I know he came back on Friday morning . He played for Argentina but he looked legless, lifeless, couldn’t get around the pitch.
“He got caught on the ball on many occasions in the first half.“I wouldn’t want to play Mac Allister as deep. It’s a bit like Thiago.
“Thiago is a fabulous footballer and when he plays for Liverpool and moves the play, I don’t want him to be the protection in front of the back four.
“And when he sits really deep and just gets caught on the ball, a bit like Casemiro.
“Mac Allister, his strength isn’t tackling, so I think he’s left in that position just picking the ball up off the back four and hence he will start to use it.
