Chelsea Step Up Pursuit For Presnel Kimpembe

Chelsea is moving forward with their plan to reassemble Thomas Tuchel’s defence. Cesar Azpilecueta appears to be the next to leave after Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. Kalidou Koulibaly has already reached US after his move was made official to join Chelsea on their pre-season tour. Next on Todd Boehly’s list is Presnel Kimpembe from PSG.

Nathan Ake was their first target, but it seems the Dutch international is staying at Manchester City. Now, O Jogo claims that the transfer of Kimpembe to Chelsea is extremely near to being finalised. As a result, PSG is stepping up their efforts to find a replacement. The French team intends to “attack” Goncalo Inacio of Sporting Lisbon.

Although Kimpembe has a €45 million release clause, it is evident that he can go this summer for less. The French defender played under Thomas Tuchel and Thiago Silva during their time at the Parc De Princes, and it would be exciting to see the trio reunited in the Premier League.

According to reports, the Frenchman would rather move to England than Italy, amidst interest from Juventus. Kimpembe might play alongside players like Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, or Koulibaly at Stamford Bridge should Tuchel decide to employ a back-three formation. The Ligue 1 Champion would be a good fit due to being left-footed, which helps in playing from the back.

How Will Kimpembe Fare In London?

A potential backline of Presnel Kimpembe, Thiago Silva and Kalidou Koulibaly can be a frightening prospect for any attacker. With a defence like that, we can very well see Chelsea in a title race next season.

On the other hand, Goncalo Inacio has a €45 million release clause, he can go this summer for less. The source claims that PSG is putting up an offer for €30 million plus bonuses as they get ready for Kimpembe’s “imminent exit” for Chelsea.
