Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly going to miss the start of the Premier League season. The 37-year-old is yet to feature in pre-season training.

However, the reason for missing the pre-season is due to family reasons. Although, he has been at the center of transfer speculation after wanting to leave to play Champions League football.

The striker reportedly wants to leave the club this summer. According to reports, there are chances, that he will allow leaving United on a simple loan deal if he triggers the one-year extension in his contract. Ronaldo wants to move to a club in the Champions League. The forward has already rejected a mega contract offer from a club in Saudi Arabia.

However, Manchester United are yet to agree to his exit. The other problem is there are currently no serious offers for Ronaldo. The forward is also reportedly ready to take a 30% pay cut to join a club in the Champions League. His agent Jorge Mendes has offered him to a number of Champions League clubs. Although, the clubs are either not interested or they do not have the finances to bring him to the club.

According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss the season opener against Brighton on August 7. The forward has been pictured training in Portugal. Although, his absence in pre-season has left him short of match practice ahead of the new season. However, Erik Ten Hag has also confirmed the striker will be integrated into the first team after returning from his break.

He also said that he will not be an automatic starter every game of the season. However, Manchester United are yet to have any confirmation over his return date. The report also suggests that the family reason is genuine. However, many are still speculating that the attacker is absent because he is finding a new club with his agent. Although, the reports have been termed fake.

His absence is however not going to disrupt United’s pre-season planning. The first team will play Athletico Madrid on Saturday. While the rest of the squad face Rayo Vallecano on Sunday to wrap up the pre-season schedule.
