Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez impresses everyone as Uruguay won 3:1 against Chile in their FIFA World Cup qualifier round game.
Nunez assisted two goals in Uruguay’s victory on Friday evening. Under the guidance Marco Bielsa, the forward is making some serious progress in this campaign.
After his heroics against Newcastle last month, Nunez has been in prolific form. The 21-year-old also made an impact for his national side but couldn’t register his name in the scoresheet.
After the match, Nunez talked to the media and said :-
“Sometimes the ball doesn’t go in, but we have to keep insisting and the most important thing was that we got the three points.”
It was Uruguay’s first victory under Marco Bielsa and media in home country is overjoyed with it. ESPN Uruguay praised Nunez and stated :-
“The English Liverpool striker was one of the most outstanding players for a Uruguay team in which Valverde, Ugarte and De la Cruz played at a high level and took over the midfield.
“Darwin Nunez played a good game and despite the fact that he could not convert, he was always present. He was surprised at the way he gained in power. They couldn’t control it. He missed the goal, but he was a team player who generated, showed himself and even provided goal assists.”
El Pais rated the Uruguayan International 7 out of 10 and said :-
“There were moments when Darwin – who missed a couple of clear scoring chances – showed himself as a winger and exchanged positions. It was in this way that one minute before leaving, he gave De la Cruz the third goal. He did a good job disturbing the entire front line. He made the difference with his changes of speed and gave two assists.
