David Alaba has backed Matthijs De Ligt to succeed at Bayern Munich. He also expects the Dutch defender to become a leader at the club.

The Bundesliga giants have made a solid start to the campaign. De Ligt also wants to have a solid first season for the club.

THE MONEY SPENT ON MATTHIS DE LIGT IS MONEY SPENT WELL FOR BAYERN MUNICH

Bayern Munich signed Matthijs De Ligt from Juventus this summer window. He was signed for a fee around of 75 million euros. However, the high fee looks like money spent well on the defender. He and the club have made a solid start to the campaign. Bayern have scored 11 goals in the first two competitive fixtures. However, they have conceded four goals in the two encounters.

But, the defense has looked much improved from the last season. New signing Matthijs De Ligt has quickly become a leader at the club. This is despite him coming on as a sub in the two matches. Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has so far started both Lucas Hernandez and Dayot Upamecano in the defense. However, De Ligt is going to be fully integrated with the squad sooner or later.

DAVID ALABA HAS BACKED HIM TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT THE GERMAN CLUB

Former Bayern defender David Alaba has backed Matthijs De Ligt to succeed at the club. He also feels the defender can become the new leader in defense. He said, ” Matthijs de Ligt definitely has what it takes to become a leading player at Bayern,” he emphasized. “Especially during his time at Ajax Amsterdam, he showed that he has many qualities and can lead. He has the nature to lead a team,” Alaba continued

During their respective tenures at Ajax and Bayern Munich, both the players squared off twice. It looks like Alaba might have seen something special in De Ligt during matches. David Alaba also took time to get settled at center-back as he was a left-back. However, Hansi Flick during his time as Bayern manager made him a successful center-back which earned him a free transfer to Real Madrid.

With all being said, time will tell whether De Ligt will be as successful as David Alaba at Bayern Munich. However, the squad depth means the defender will have to wait for more game time. The German giants have started adding depth in defense after they were short due to illness and injuries last season.
