Beckford beckons Jeremy as a talent to be reckoned

Jeremy Doku gave everyone a glimpse of his skills with an amazing showing against Bournemouth, racking a staggering 4 assists and 1 goal. Jermaine Beckford experienced a fan moment while watching the match, swept off his feet by the youngsters quick feet. According to Manchester City News, Beckford said, “But Jeremy Doku, he was unplayable. He’s learning and he’s getting better and better as times goes. He can drift inside, he can go outside“.

Jeremy Doku being the only touchline winger, as opposed to Grealish who plays as an inverted one, is very essential in breaking low blocks which Man City often encounter. Doku provides significant 1v1 threat when he comes on, which could be useful in stagnating matches or after going behind.

Doku to raise or raze Manchester City

Since joining Manchester City, there have been eminent doubts regarding Doku’s end product. Although his nimble feet have always been his selling point but Pep Guardiola’s knack for perfection demanded something more. However now, after the Bournemouth game, the signs look promising.

The loss of Mahrez and Cole Palmer in the same transfer window would’ve hurt a lot more if Doku didn’t turn out as expected. Pep Guardiola and sporting director Txiki should be applauded for betting on Doku. As initially there were concerns of him being a one-dimensional player. The improvement in his final ball and overall mindful final third actions, highlights his desire to improve and compete at a top level.
