Leicester City

Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca is reported to leave the club after doing a good job. The Italian manager has helped Foxes to claim their spot back in Premier League. Maresca is linked with Chelsea and may be unveiled by the blues as their new boss soon. However there are rumours about other managers linked with Chelsea too.

Maresca and his time with Leicester

Leicester were relegated last season and were set to play in the Championship. They appointed Maresca as their new manager. Maresca signed a three year deal with Foxes on 16 June 2023. His first game as Leicester boss was against Coventry where the foxes grabbed a 2-1 victory. Maresca also earned Manager of the month award in his first month with Foxes after guiding his squad to four straight wins. Except August, Maresca went on to win this award for three more times in October, December and April respectively.

Maresca guided Leicester to make their path back in the Premier League in late April. Only after some days, Leicester were crowned as Championship champions. Leicester ended the season with 31 wins and securing 97 points. They won the league by only one extra point over Ipswich Town. The fans hoping to witness more Maresca magic maybe disappointed if the italian boss decides to leave.

Maresca looking for bigger challenges

Enzo Maresca has been linked with Chelsea who have just parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino. Chelsea are interested in the Italian manager and Maresca wants to join them too. Fabrizio Romano who is very accurate with his transfer news recently spoke about Maresca to Caughtoffside. According to Romano, Maresca’s move to Chelsea has pretty solid possibility to happen.

Chelsea have also been linked to various managers. Ruben Amorim was strongly linked in recent weeks. According to recent reports, the blues have now opened talks with Maresca as potential replacement for Pochettino. Leicester have £10 million release clause set for Maresca. Maresca is also reported to receive a longer contract than Pochettino. The Argentine received a contract of two years when he signed for the blues. The Blues are ready to pay the release price for Italian. Maresca is rumoured to be announced by Chelsea as their new manager in the next week. Ever since Todd Boehly took over he has changed managers for five times. The hunt for the sixth manager will hopefully end in the next week.

Except Maresca and Amorim, Chelsea are also linked to Kieran McKenna. McKenna is highly in demand with Brighton and Manchester United interested in him. Chelsea were also interested in Roberto De Zerbi and Hansi Flick. However Hansi Flick has been recently announced as new Barcelona manager. Thomas Frank is also in Chelsea’s list of potential managers. Frank who is currently managing Brentford has contract until 2027. However he has admitted that he would think about his future if some intersting offer comes his way. The Blues could also look back to bring their former managers back. Jose Mourinho, Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte who all had successful spells with Chelsea are also available options.

Who can replace Maresca

Leicester are looking for a manager who will replace Maresca if decides to leave. The one name that has been hugely considered by Foxes is Carlos Corberan. Corberan is currently managing West Bromwich Albion and is doing decent job. The spanish manager is still 41 years old and is believed to have a bright future in management. The Foxes and their fans would want Maresca to stay with them a little longer but have to keep hunt for the next manager open if the italian manager decides to leave.
