Fabinho Set to Depart Liverpool for Al-Ittihad After Stellar Stint

Fabinho

Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder, Fabinho, is reportedly on the verge of departing Anfield for Al-Ittihad in what is being described as a mega deal. According to Fabrizio Romano, the paperwork hurdles have been overcome, and Fabinho is set to undergo a medical soon.

Departing Fabinho: The Path to Al-Ittihad

Fabinho’s potential move to Al-Ittihad has been in the works for several weeks. It seems likely that he would depart Liverpool alongside Jordan Henderson. However, delays in the deal resulted in his return to Merseyside for training. The midfielder has been left out of Liverpool’s second pre-season tour, indicating that the move is progressing. However, delays in the deal caused him to return to Merseyside for training. Luckily, the stall has now been resolved, and the Brazilian midfielder is all set to undergo medical tests, signaling a smooth path for the transfer.

Liverpool has been undergoing a massive midfield rebuild, with the departure of Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner. While they brought in Alex Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, the Saudi Arabian interest in their squad in general has led to a reassessment of their options.

Fabinho will sign a three-year deal with Al-Ittihad, and Liverpool will reportedly recoup a significant £40 million from the transfer. This represents a near break-even deal for the Reds, who initially invested £39 million when signing him from AS Monaco in 2018.

Searching for a Suitable Successor

With Fabinho’s departure imminent, Liverpool’s focus will now shift to finding a suitable successor for the No. 6 position. Their top target, Romeo Lavia, has had several bids rejected. The Reds are confident that they can finalize the deal this weekend. However, they may still need to sign another midfielder, considering they have already lost five midfielders this summer.

Tyler Adams is another potential target Liverpool have been looking at. The 24-year-old American has impressed statistically, excelling in pressures, defensive duels, and progressive passes. Adams has experience playing under a pressing system during his time at RB Leipzig. This makes him an attractive prospect for Liverpool.

While Adams might be available for just £20 million due to a relegation release clause in his contract, Liverpool’s budget may be limited, despite the funds generated from selling Fabinho and Henderson. Should they secure Lavia for around £50 million, Liverpool’s spending would reach approximately £160 million.
