Forever reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has an update on a ‘star’ striker who is attracting offers from many clubs. Romano was talking about Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford whose current contract expires in 2023. However, Romano has an update that could disappoint the United supporters. But on the other hand, could somewhat excite the Arsenal fans. Fabrizio Romano was speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE, where he revealed that Arsenal is interested in the England striker.

Arsenal have set their sights on signing a quality striker in the summer. The gunners are without a regular goal-scorer, but that hasn’t stopped their progress. Arsenal sits fourth in the table, looking confident to qualify for Champions League. Their current options in Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah could leave in the summer, which was disclosed by Fabrizio Romano as well.

Rashford is enduring a difficult period with United, frequently finding himself left out of the starting XI. Moreover, Cristiano Ronaldo‘s arrival further hampered Rashford’s chances of regaining his spot. But the 24-year-old is now exploring opportunities away from Old Trafford. And Arsenal, who are in desperate need of a striker, wants Rashford. The gunners are keeping a tab on the striker’s situation at United.

Fabrizio Romano provides an update on the Arsenal target

Rashford’s injury derailed his development at his boyhood club Manchester United. However, his frustration grew with the arrival of 37-year-old Ronaldo. Rashford was approaching the peak of his career at 24 and suddenly found himself sidelined. Moreover, Edinson Cavani given the role of Ronaldo’s deputy further discouraged Marcus.

Arsenal are lining up to sign Marcus Rashford, who according to Fabrizio Romano wants an exit. The journalist has further spoken about Rashford’s current stance over considering a contract extension.

Romano told FIVE,

“Of course it’s not the best moment – in March – to say something like that. But at the same point for the player it’s something that he’s really desperate. He wants to play, he wants to be a starter”.

Joel Beya, co-host of FIVE further asked Romano for more news on Rashford. The journalist insisted there are no talks currently going on about an extension.

Romano told,

“From what I’m told, no, they’re not even negotiating a new contract at the moment. It’s up to Marcus, he’s waiting for the manager and so it’s always the same situation. He’s still waiting, considering his future, but at the moment he’s in no rush to sign a new contract, absolutely.”

While Arsenal may be monitoring the whole situation, they need to be more attentive to a detail discussed by Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian said,

“He [Rashford] wants to understand about Man United’s plans and project, what kind of manager will be appointed, what kind of ideas he will have for Rashford. It’s still something open, United have a clause to extend the contract for one more season, so they’re not in danger with Rashford’s situation.”
