Darwin Nunez and his future at Liverpool is under spotlight right now.
The Uruguayan international has had a frustrating season in front of goal. Nunez has found the goal 17 times this season in all competitions with 12 assists to his name. Despite having 29 G/A in 49 appearances for the Reds this season, Nunez has been criticized for missing chances.
Darwin’s lack of composure and finishing ability in front of goal hasn’t gone unnoticed. He has missed 27 big chances in the league. The number is quite staggering for someone of Nunez’s caliber.
Darwin Nunez set to leave Liverpool?
The Uruguayan’s struggles on the pitch have been quite evident. The Liverpool number 9 was seen storming off the pitch at the end of Liverpool’s win over Spurs at Anfield.
Since the game, Nunez has deleted almost every media associated with Liverpool from his Instagram account. This has led to fans being in quite a conundrum.
The Reds’ fans are pondering over the striker’s future and are left wondering if Darwin will leave the club.
Fabrizio Romano’s take: Here we don’t go!
The Italian journalist has reported that as of now there are no ongoing talks between Nunez and any other club. Darwin is in fact keen on having a chat with the incoming boss Arne Slot.
Fabrizio stated in his Daily Briefing:
“A lot of fans are asking about Darwin Nunez deleting all Liverpool-related posts from his Instagram.
However, these are private things, so only Darwin can clarify why he did that; for sure it’s not the best moment for him, but I’d never link social media activities with transfer market movements.
It’s all quiet so far, nothing is happening and for sure Darwin is looking forward to speaking to new coach Arne Slot”.
Should Darwin stay?
Darwin Nunez is only 24 as of now. The Uruguayan is far from reaching his prime. With the incoming Arne Slot and his unique gameplay style, Darwin’s numbers could go up.
Nunez’s physicality coupled with his speed and positioning could prove to be a real menace for the oppositions’ defenses. If the Uruguayan finds his feet and keeps his composure then there’s no stopping him from becoming a Liverpool Legend.
