Ferguson claims why he choose Brighton over Liverpool

Last weekend’s hatrick hero Evan Ferguson gives reason on why he choose Brighton & Hove Albion over Liverpool football club back in 2021.

Ferguson became the fifth-youngest-player to score hatrick in the Premier League history as the Seagulls won the match 3:1 against Newcastle United. Although, the Irish footballer was under Liverpool’s radar previously.

The Mersyside club were also eyeing a move for Ferguson from Irish outfit Bohemians back in 2021. However the striker choose to join Brighton for more game-time.

The 18-year-old spoke to The Athletic in the summer of 2022 and said :-

“I went to Liverpool a few times.

“It’s a good club, but you see so many boys at Liverpool just fading away and there’s no chance to get in the first team.”

“I was thinking, ‘Do I just want to play two years of under-18s and then go to the 23s and go from there to where?’

“Brighton is a good club. The people working around are always there to help.”

However, young midfielder Stefan Bajcetic disagrees with Ferguson’s assessment. The youngster joined Reds from Spanish outfit Celta Vigo in 2020.

The Spaniard feels blessed to wear the Liverpool jersey and stated :-

“I would say it’s a great time to be a young player at Liverpool.

“The coach puts a lot of faith in young players.

Some of the players we sign as well are very young. I think in the future these players will be great for Liverpool.”

Bajcetic completed 931 minutes for Liverpool in last campaign. However his season has cut short due to an abductor injury.

This season, Liverpool already giving more opportunities to youngster as defender Jarell Quansah(20) made his senior team debut against Newcastle United last month. Scottish winger Ben Doak has also made into Europa League squad for this campaign.
