NBC pundit Danny Higginbotham has claimed that Manchester United should play Cristiano Ronaldo from the bench. He has also said that Sancho could not have scored if Ronaldo was on the pitch.

The forward was on the bench for the third time in a row. Sancho, Elenga, Rashford, and Bruno Fernandes are all in the starting line-up.

MANCHESTER UNITED NOT MISSING CRISTIANO RONALDO

According to pundit Danny Higginbotham, Manchester United should start Cristiano Ronaldo from the bench. He has also added that Jadon Sancho could not have scored if Ronaldo was present on the pitch. The Red Devils manager Erik Ten Hag has started an attacking front four of Elanga, Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford.

Ronaldo started a game for United against Brentford. They lost the game 4-0. However, ever since the club have managed to win three games in a row. Danny also added,“That’s probably a reason why we haven’t seen Ronaldo playing, and that’s no disrespect to Ronaldo,’.The first goal, I don’t think Manchester United would score that if Ronaldo is on the pitch.

FELLOW PUNDIT TIM HOWARD HAS ALSO SUPPORTED HIS CLAIMS

Higginbotham’s fellow pundit Tim Howard has also supported the claims. Howard believes that Ten Hag is creating an identity at Manchester United by having Ronaldo make space for the younger players. He also believes the younger players will shine at Old Trafford if given chance to play. The goalkeeper also expects his former side to improve as the season goes on.

“Yeah, you know when you talk about creating an identity — the reason they’ve won these last two games is the energy in the front four,’ said the former USMNT, Everton, and Manchester United goalkeeper. He also added ‘We’ve talked about that high-intensity pressing, running going through the gears, finding pockets playing forward, running forward. If you’re going to create a foundation at your football club that can never drop.

Manchester United created chances without Ronaldo on the pitch. Ronaldo came on the pitch in the 68th minute of the match. The forward attempted an ambitious over-head kick in the 83rd minute. Hence, it looks like Ronaldo can still prove his worth at Old Trafford.
