Former Liverpool player Nuri Sahin says he uses Klopp’s ideas in his managerial tactics. Sahin is the manager of Turkish Super Lig side Antalyaspor since two years. Though, it has been a mixed career path for him as a manager till now. He led Antalyaspor to 7th in the 2021/22 season followed by a 13th place the next season. Now, after eight games so far this season, they stand at the same place again. Speaking to Flashscore about his time as a coach so far, the former Borussia Dortmund player was asked whether his approach is ‘more Klopp than anyone else.’

“I try to be myself. I’m new to this job,” he replies. “I have been in it for only a few dozen months, but it feels like tens of years! I want to create my own ideas about football, but I rely on what I learned from the coaches I had.

Sahin continues,

“I try to combine things, but always stay faithful to the idea of being myself. I’m talking to you now, but I don’t know what happens inside your brain. You can’t get into mine either. It’s the same with coaching. I certainly like a style of football, but it’s my own game I like to play.

Sahin further says,

I also played under Thomas Tuchel at Dortmund. I am not into copying, I have my own ideas. But I like Tuchel’s style too, I think a mix with Klopp is the best cocktail for me.”

Nuri Sahin played under some fantastic managers and it might not be a surprise if he succeeds as a manager. There are also comparisons of him with another Liverpool man Xabi Alonso. However, Xabi has a better start of his managerial career than Sahin.
