Fulham could be on the verge of signing their top midfield target Joao Palhinha from Sporting CP. The midfielder will sign a four-year deal with Fulham. The midfielder was also on Wolves’ radar. But the Midlands club have bowed out of the race. The reason is due to their inability to sell star midfielder, Ruben Neves.
FULHAM- PALHINHA TRANSFER SAGA FULL STORY
It is directly linked with the Premier League side calling off their pursuit of the Portuguese midfielder. That has left Fulham as the only side interested in the midfielder. The Cottagers already have a deal agreed worth €20 million with the Portuguese side.
Palhinha has also reportedly agreed to a salary worth €2.5 million per season. Everton and Tottenham were keen on the midfielder at one stage. But, it looks like Fulham are the frontrunners for Joao Palhinha.
WHAT WILL THE PORTUGUESE MIDFIELDER BRING TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE AND FULHAM?
Palhinha brings experience with him and can prove to be a good asset for the Cottagers. His price tag of €20 million could be considered a steal as he still has five years left on his Sporting contract. Fulham can also build a team around him that has the potential to survive in the Premier League. Palhinha has been a strong player for Sporting in recent seasons. Having a key role in their title triumph in 2020/21, he made 38 appearances across all competitions. His ability in holding the team together in the midfield are deeply valued by the teams interested in his services.
Joao Palhinha first thing will be looking to ensure survival for Fulham. Fulham does not have a good history with Premier League in recent years. They are considered too good for the Championship, but they don’t usually play well in the Premier League. Although, with an experienced manager Marco Silva, they will look to survive the drop and build a bright future in the Premier League.
