Gary Neville advises Liverpool to sign this star free agent as cover for Thiago

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville is convinced that Liverpool should make a move for Christian Eriksen.

Moreover, he believes that the Dane is capable of playing in any of the top-six teams.

The 30-year-old suffered a heart attack in last year’s Euro Cup.

He returned to playing professional football in January this year. Since then he has been absolutely exceptional.

He has scored once and has four assists under his name from 10 appearances.

Only Kevin De Bruyne and Alexander-Arnold are said to have created more chances with this consistency than Eriksen.

Eriksen’s contract ends with Brentford at the end of next month. Therefore, many top teams have shown interest in the player.

He was impressed by his play against Manchester United in the Premier League. Therefore, he feels that signing Eriksen would prove to be excellent for Liverpool.

Moreover, he says that Eriksen could act as a cover and competition for Thiago.

What did Gary Neville have to say about Eriksen?

Speaking to The Overlap Fan Debate, Neville said,

I think Eriksen will get plucked by a big club. He might show loyalty, to be fair, because of what Brentford have done for him.”

I tell you what, if you were any top-six club that were looking at a midfield three and you wanted a player to go in there and play 30 games for you in a squad-type [situation], you’d [take him].”

I’m not saying starting every week, but he could come on. Look at what [Xherdan] Shaqiri was doing at Liverpool for two or three years there.”

If Liverpool are looking for a midfield player to come on for, say, Thiago – who gets injured a little bit – why would you not look at Eriksen?”

To be fair, Brentford played out here [at Old Trafford], it was one of the games United won, but some of Eriksen’s passing in that game was out of this world at Old Trafford.”
