One of the biggest signings Real Madrid missed was Neymar Jr. The Brazilian superstar admitted that he was a Los Blancos fan during his childhood.
He was also set to sign for the club as a teenager. However, the move fell through due to contractual issues. Since then he has played for the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
WHAT HAVE REAL MADRID DONE TO AVOID A SITUATION LIKE THIS?
The club president Florentino Perez was reportedly very upset at the time after missing out on a precious talent. Another setback for the Madrid president was he played for their arch-rivals Barcelona and won plenty of trophies there. His goal exploits earned him a move to Paris Saint-Germain. However, the move is yet to be more successful as the French giants are yet to win a Champions League title.
Neymar has been linked with Real Madrid a few times. However, there has been only talks and no bid was registered. The Brazil international is also currently linked with an exit from PSG. According to reports, they are also happy to loan him out. However, the forward has said that he would like to stay at the club for the rest of his career. He is now going to stay as no club can currently pay his high wages.
HOW IS THE SEARCH FOR THE NEW NEYMAR GOING ON?
Florentino Perz since missing out on Neymar has been on a mission. He has instructed the scouting team to search for talents like Neymar in Brazil. He wants to sign young and skilled teenagers who could become the New Neymar at the Bernabeau. However, the search has managed to bring some good results as well as bad results for the club.
Players like Vinicius Jr have managed to make a place in the hearts of Real Madrid fans. He is now the new Neymar for not only Los Blancos but Brazil’s national team. This season Vinicius Jr with his goals has helped the club win the Champions League and La Liga titles. Rodrygo also has been of the same importance with his goals. However, he is still yet to play regularly. However, both players have signed long-term extensions.
The search also has yielded bad results. Players like Reiner Jesus, Takefusa Kubo, Martin Odegaard, and Brahim Diaz did not fit well at the club. Kubo and Odegaard have already moved on permanently. Jesus is also going to go on loan again. Whereas, there are indications that Brahim Diaz might get an opportunity to play again. The La Liga side have also linked with new Brazil wonderkid Endrick Felipe.
