Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar would be open to leaving Paris-Saint Germain amid Chelsea links. The forward is allegedly warming to the possibility of leaving the club this summer.
However, his contract was now automatically extended until the summer of 2027. But, he continues to be strongly linked with an exit regardless.
NEYMAR AND CHELSEA LINKS FULL STORY
The PSG hierarchy are supposedly ready to sever ties with Neymar. His last season was shadowed by frequent injuries and fan frustration. He was the frequent target of boos and jeers from his own supporters. However, Neymar was previously not interested in leaving the Ligue.1 champions.
The only club that could afford his transfer fee and wages was Newcastle United. However, he made it clear that he does not want to join Newcastle United. So, it looked like PSG were set to hold onto him for at least one season. Although, now it seems both player and board are trying to engineer an exit. It seems like Chelsea are interested in signing Neymar.
THE BLUES ARE THE ONLY SIDE THAT CAN PAY HIM AND PLAY HIM IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Neymar’s agent Pini Zahavi is said to be working to identify clubs that can afford his client. It seems like Chelsea are one of the two or three clubs that can realistically welcome the Brazilian to the club. The forward earns a mammoth €43m (£37.1m) per year at the Parc des Princes excluding bonuses. PSG also would reportedly demand a transfer fee of £190m to sanction the sale.
Although, Neymar is not the only attacking target for Thomas Tuchel. The Blues are working on deals for both Raheem Sterling and Raphinha. Chelsea are also said to be working on the free transfer of Ousmane Dembele. Defensively the club is trying to bring Matthijs De Ligt from Juventus.
Neymar only managed 28 appearances last season. But he managed to score 13 goals and provide eight assists in Ligue1 and Champions League. The Brazilian international won his fourth league title with Les Parisiens. He has enjoyed many successes in the last five years. So it will be interesting to see where the Brazilian forward ends at.
