Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Ilkay Gundogan is unavailable for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Liverpool. Alongside Ilkay Gundogan, Oleksandr Zinchenko is also out.

Ilkay Gundogan has missed the last three matches with a thigh problem. While Zinchenko has not featured in any of the last four games as he is nursing an unspecified injury.

Speaking to the press, Guardiola said “Everyone is fit except Zinchenko and Gundogan. We expect both after the international break, hopefully.“. The city fans are hopeful that both players can return for Manchester City’s home encounter against Burnley on October 16.

Phil Foden came off the substitutes’ bench during the 2-0 defeat to PSG in the Champions League in midweek and could make his first Premier League start of the campaign. John Stones has so far had to wait for his chance to resume his partnership with Ruben Dias at the heart of the defence after a delayed start to the season, with Aymeric Laporte seemingly the man in possession at the moment.

On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold and It means James Milner is set to continue at right-back. The 22-year-old England international was a notable absentee as the Reds clocked up an eye-catching victory over Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Thiago Alcantara will also be out for the fixture as he recovers from a calf injury.
