In the second Test match in Delhi, India decided to play with the same team. They won the match by six wickets, securing a 2-0 lead. However, one player who has been struggling with their performance is KL Rahul. Because of this, he was removed from his role as vice-captain following the Delhi Test.
Shubman Gill or Kl Rahul’s biggest problem for India
Shubman Gill, who had not been given a chance to play in the first two matches, has been performing well. His good form has put additional pressure on Rahul. Many former cricket players and experts believe that Gill should replace Rahul as the opener. On Monday, both players were seen practicing together under the guidance of coach Rahul Dravid. Currently, it appears that Rahul is still competing with Gill for his place on the team.
Since the match is very important, India might want to let Gill play instead. It’s important to note that India must win the series with a score of 3-1 or 4-0 if they want to make it to the final of the World Test Championship.
So far, the Indian team management has decided to play with three spinners and two pacers in their matches. However, they are likely to change this approach for the third Test because of the characteristics of the Indore track.
Media reports suggest that red soil, which helps fast bowlers and brings more bounce, has been brought in from Mumbai for the upcoming match. The bouncy nature of the pitch will also benefit the batters, who will have more opportunities to hit shots on the up. Unlike the spinning tracks of Nagpur and Delhi, the players will be able to play differently on this new pitch.
Green and Starc set to be back
Even though Australia is not used to these types of surfaces, they are still hoping to win their first-ever match in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. Their players are more accustomed to playing on bouncy tracks, and they plan to take full advantage of the opportunity. Pacer Mitchell Starc and fast-bowling all-rounder Cameron Green are expected to be included in the Australian team. They will bring their skills to the table and help their team win.
India might go with three pacers
In the upcoming matches, Team India will need to change their batting combination due to a variety of reasons. Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj, the two pacers who have played in the previous matches, will likely remain on the team. However, the other two fast bowlers, Umesh Yadav, and Jaydev Unadkat might be called upon. Unfortunately, Umesh might not be available for the match because his father passed away. This opens the door for Unadkat to potentially play if India decides to have three pacers.
Unadkat might get a game
Unadkat is in good form and recently led Saurashtra to a Ranji Trophy victory. Despite his success, India’s in-form all-rounder Axar Patel might have to sit out due to the team’s current situation. It’s important to note that the senior spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin will most likely be chosen as the team’s two spinners. This means that there might not be enough space for Patel to play.
India’s probable XI :
Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj
