IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals reached finals in the last year and again they are so close to the finals. The first Qualifier will be between Delhi Capitals(DC) and Chennai Super Kings(CSK). DC has impressed everyone with their consistency in each aspect of the game since last year. But they lost their last game of the league stage in IPL 2021.

Ricky Ponting believes that the defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last league stage game of the season has given a new opportunity to DC. In an interview, Ponting said that their team will have a chance to reflect on their mistakes. And DC would wanna work on their mistakes and come back stronger in the 1st Qualifier.

Ponting claims that the matches in the playoffs will be completely different from the league stage. He said that the tournament will be starting fresh for Delhi Capitals(DC) from the play-offs and they will play even better than before. The Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting said

“I think we should be very confident. We have beaten them twice in the league games, but as you know, the playoff games are completely different, and our tournament really starts now,”

Ponting Is Confident about Delhi Capitals winning the IPL this season

The loss against RCB gave the chance to Delhi Capitals to reflect again although, learning never stops, DC will have more to learn from the lost matches. Ponting in the post-interview said that it was disappointing to lose the match like that. But he’s definitely not unhappy as they will come back stronger in the next game.

“We need to forget about the disappointment from the last game and focus on the next match,”

Delhi Capitals has given themselves a fair chance to play ahead. They totally deserved to be in the top 2. Shikhar Dhawan is the one cricketer in DC with a consistent batting reputation the whole year with the most number of fours hit by him. Prithvi Shaw has also often opened for DC and gave a quick start. Thus DC takes the momentum ahead and batted well in the tournament so far. They have a strong bowling line-up that contains wicket-takers like Avesh Khan, Rabada and Anrich Nortje.

Delhi Capitals looks very strong and coach Ponting thinks the same. In the last match against RCB he says, “If you look at it, we probably have played better tonight than the games we have won, so that’s certainly the way I look at it. It’s not about end results, it’s about the performances we were putting on the board,”
