‘It was a difficult wicket’: Jemimah Rodrigues after the heroics in the World Cup

Jemimah World

Jemimah Rodrigues’s knock of 53 off 38 balls in the World Cup was the same as Virat’s 82 against the same Pakistanis. Jemimah kept herself calm and took the team to great victory. A victory in the opening match will always help in getting momentum. As t20s are all about momentum. Jemimah and Richa were the ones who snatched the victory from the opposition.

Jemimah on recreating Virat’s heroics in World Cup said

“India vs Pakistan matches are always a little bit more special – we spoke about it in the team meeting. Growing up we always watched these matches. I remember watching the match at the MCG where Virat Kohli played such an extraordinary knock.

On her plan to chase the big total she said,

“We knew they would bowl a bad ball eventually and we would capitalise – it was a difficult wicket but being set helped. This was a team effort. We will let the win sink in, but the tournament has just begun. We want to do the simple things correctly and then the results will take care of themselves”.

Jemimah, who was taking the innings to the deep, then smashed three boundaries in the 19th over. At the same time, she also reached fifty. The contribution of Richa Ghosh was also vital her hitting ability was so insane. Richa’s quick-fire knock only got the momentum to Team India. They both added an unbroken 58-run partnership as India Women chased down 150 – their highest-ever chase in the T20 World Cup.
