James to replace Walker at The Etihad

Man City is reportedly linked with the transfer of Chelsea’s sparkling defender Reece James to the Etihad.

City’s current right-back is Kyle Walker who is still one of the best not only in the league but around the world. The 31-year-old English international is superbly pace accompanied by a towering strength. As he’s getting into his 30s he’ll be more prone to injury and pep can’t afford an injury to one of his key players.

Walker is well in contract until 2024 and for sure he will be untouchable at the city’s RB. Pep seems to have a plan which goes by the name of Reece James when that day arrives. It seems very likely that Chelsea will sell one of their key players to their rivals no matter what the fee is.

Reece James and Chelsea

Todd Bohely who has recently taken over the ownership of Chelsea is keen to retain his players. According to some reports, Bohely and his team are working to present a new contract to Mason Mount and Reece James.

A lot of players are set to leave Chelsea some due to contract expiration while others due to bad relationships with managers. Players like Lukaku, Alonso aren’t on the same plain as that of Tuchel while players like Christensen and Rudiger will leave London. In this major squad overhaul, Reece James can stay confident of his place in the team and consideration for future endeavors.

Man City no matter what happens is always ready to splash the cash and if Pep thinks he needs the player he gets the player. His previous transfer is just a living witness of that. Grealish for £100m,  Cancelo for £60m, Mendy for £52m, Walker for £53m, and the list goes on.

The transfer might not happen this summer or the summers following but Pep definitely has James right in his sights. It’ll be a lucrative deal without a shadow of a doubt but it depends a lot on the player too because loyalty also plays a factor.
