England right-back duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James have been shortlisted by Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are on the lookout for a wing-back and the two have popped up on their radar.

Plagued by injury, Dani Carvajal turns 30 in 2022. Alvaro Odriozola was tipped to be Carvajal’s successor. But he has been sent out on loan.

Los Blancos have now started to look elsewhere for a suitable option. Their searches have brought them Trent, James and Nice’s Youcef Atal. Out of the three, the Algerian could prove to be the most economical.

Could Trent, James fit in at Madrid?

One of Madrid’s options is Liverpool boy Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Englishman has taken no time in establishing himself as one of the best full-backs in Europe. He broke into the Liverpool first-team half a decade ago.

Only 18 at the time, the boy from West Derby, Liverpool instantly showed glimpses of future greatness. Since then, his course upward has been continuous.

To date, Alexander-Arnold has played 184 games for the Reds, impressively registering 10 goals and 47 assists. He was instrumental in their trophy-laden success in recent times.

His progress has not gone unnoticed. Real Madrid, among others, have been closely following up on the 22-year-old for a while now.

Another option on the list is Chelsea wing-back Reece James. The Englishman joined the Chelsea academy at age 6. He made swift progress in the youth system at the West London club.

However, only after a loan spell at Wigan Athletic that the English international finally made his breakthrough with the Blues.

The 21-year-old has registered 89 appearances for Chelsea. He has bagged 4 goals with 11 assists along the way. His progress established him as a regular member of the England national team.

He has also appeared on the radars of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. At present, with their injury woes, Real Madrid have their sights set firmly on James.
