Departed Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson clears the reason why he left the Mersyside for Saudi club Al-Ettifaq in this summer transfer window.
The 33-year-old left the club as one of the most decorated footballer in Liverpool’s history. His choice of going to a Saudi club this summer caused disappointment among the supporters.
Henderson claims that his former teammate Steven Gerrard played an important role in his decision to leave Liverpool this summer. Speaking on the BeanymanSports for the first time, Henderson explained the current situation :-
“Stevie [Gerrard] was a big reason obviously why I came to work with him and play under him.
“We’ve had some good training sessions, not many, had one game, so not loads.“But we need to be ready in the next week or so for the first game and I’m sure we will be. We’ve had some good training sessions, a good result the other night so hopefully we can keep moving things in the right direction and work together to make the team better and more successful.”
Stevie G convinced Jordan Henderson to join his team this summer
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard convinced Jordan Henderson to join his team Al-Ettifaq this summer. The Saudi Arabian club appointed the 43-year-old as a manager, back in July.
However, there was always a possibility that he joins a rival Premier League club this summer. But after so many years at Anfield, that seems like something wouldn’t happened with him.
Acknowledging his age, Henderson is now far away from his best and Liverpool recieved £12m for there former captain. That’s a good piece of business for Reds.
After departure of Henderson and Fabinho, Liverpool need a new No 9 at the middle of the pitch this season. Romeo Lavia and Andre are currently monitored by Reds for the vacant position at Anfield.
