Journalist Graeme Bailey suggests Liverpool are leading the race to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade in the January transfer window.

Reds have been heavily linked with Andre in the summer transfer window, but the Brazilian outfit didn’t allow his exit. However, Liverpool are now favourites to sign the defensive midfielder in January.

Speaking on 90mins Talking Transfers Podcast, Journalist Graeme Bailey suggests Fluminense won’t stand in Andre’s way this time. He will leave the club in January as Liverpool are aware of it. He said :-

“Many people think he’s the best defensive midfielder in the Brazilian top flight at the moment.

“It’s our understanding that they [Liverpool] were in attendance for the Copa Libertadores semi-final [last week]. They would have been delighted for Andre to see that he helped inspire a 2-1 win over Internacional in the second-leg. It got them through to the final where they will play Boca Juniors.

“He really is one on the agenda for January. And I’ll be amazed if he doesn’t leave Fluminense. Will it be to Liverpool? I think they’re first in the queue.

“He’s definitely leaving Fluminense in January. And he may very well be turning up at Anfield.”

Liverpool will be an ideal destination for Andre

Liverpool will be an ideal destination for Andre as it will be the perfect opportunity to show his talent in the Premier League. However, some would argue that there isn’t a place for another midfield in Klopp’s team.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister are regularly starters for Liverpool this season. Klopp will shuffle Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch for his final spot in the midfield.

Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic are also in their ranks as they got plenty of options at middle of the park. Hence, it will be interesting to see wheather Andre will be a regular starter, if he joins Liverpool this January.
