Journalist surprised as Arsenal are still linked to Tielemans

Journalist Dean Jones is left ‘surprised’ by rumours of Arsenal talks to sign Leicester City star Youri Tielemans. He is thought to be a summer target of Arsenal. The midfielder is still linked with Arsenal as his contract is coming to an end with the Foxes. With Leicester City potentially going down it is more likely than ever that Tielemans would leave.

The midfielder has been repeatedly linked with a move to Arsenal this summer. His contract ticks down slowly to expiry this summer. He was a real transfer target for Arsenal last summer. Ben Jacobs even stated at that time he would love to join them with links re-emerging this year. Leicester and Arsenal were just 5 mil away from getting the deal done last summer.

The possibility of the midfielder moving to the Emirates is highly unlikely now. Arsenal are now considering targets such as Declan Rice and Caicedo now. With the team progressing and lack of squad depth Arsenal would move for him later in the window. With Champions League football Arsenal need a stronger squad than what they have now.

Arsenal hold a long-standing interest in Tielemans, calling it ‘common knowledge’, but also explains there is now ‘desire’ to move ahead.

Journalist has his say to this saga

Jones from GIVEMESPORT went on to say:

“I have been surprised to see reports of talks being opened around this because as far as I’m aware, any talks with Tielemans aren’t that recent.

“Arsenal do have a long-term interest in him, they obviously know about his availability, that’s common knowledge.

“But, there has also been a desire to move beyond him now because of the way the team has progressed so fast.”

Tielemans and Arsenal saga is one to watch out for this summer. Arsenal might be considering him as an alternative option.
