Juan Mata willing to stay in the Premier League

Spanish midfielder Juan Mata is said to be pondering over the prospect of staying in England for next season. The former Manchester United man announced that he would be leaving the Red Devils this season.

The Times report that the 34-year-old is open to staying in England. He wants to continue playing in the Premier League, while he chooses his next club for this season. The creative genius has been linked to Barcelona in recent weeks.

He last played in the La Liga during the 2010-11 season while playing for Valencia. He is one of the several players who will be heading out of the Old Trafford this season. Apart from him, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard are all going to leave the Red Devils this season.

Paul Pogba has heavily been linked to Juventus after he announced his departure from United. Previously he had a successful stint with the Italian club from 2012 to 2016. With Juventus, he won four Serie A titles consecutively during his stint. Moreover, he also won two Italian Cups and two Italian Super Cups. Moreover, he was adjudged the Player of the Year award twice with Juventus. Lingard on the other hand has been linked to Premier League club West Ham. He had a successful loan outing at the club last year. Moreover, David Moyes is also said to be interested in bringing him back to his team for this season.

Juan Mata had an impressive time in the Premier League

Juan Mata is becoming a free agent this month after his contract with Manchester United ended. He spent nine years with the Red Devils. During that time he played 285 times. Though, his appearances dried up in the latter half of his time at Old Trafford.

Still, he was an important member of the team when United lifted the Europa League back in 2017 under Jose Mourinho.

During his stint at United, he scored 51 goals. Moreover, he also has 33 goals under his name while he played for Chelsea in 135 appearances.
