Juventus consider Saul Niguez after Paul Pogba injury

A knee injury sustained by Paul Pogba may force Juventus to acquire another midfielder to their ranks during this transfer window. The Bianconeri fought arduously to bring the Frenchman back to Italy because he is the centrepiece of their ambitions for this campaign.

Pogba, who joined the team this summer after leaving Manchester United on a free transfer, sustained a lesion to his right lateral meniscus in his knee.

His comeback increased the club’s optimism and spirit. However, it all came crashing down when he picked up the long-term injury.  This problem could keep him out for several months and may force him to miss this year’s World Cup in Qatar. It has forced them to look for alternatives and rethink their tactics for the new season.

Fortunately, the transfer window is still open, and they may resolve the issue there. It had led to a number of midfielders being linked with a move to Turin. There has recently been a new name added to the list.

The Bianconeri may bring in Saul Niguez to temporarily replace Paul Pogba. This is according to a new report by Calciomercato.

Saul For Paul: A Good Choice?

Niguez was once a vital part of the Atletico Madrid midfield. However, he has fallen out of favour. He was loaned to Chelsea last summer. But the Spanish midfielder failed to impress when on loan at Chelsea. He ended up being a benchwarmer and was used as a utility player at left-back.

He might not have many opportunities to play at Atletico Madrid once again. Rumour has it that he might join Juventus on loan.

It is no guarantee that Saul can change his fortunes. However, he has proven to be a good player in the past. Perhaps a change of scenery and system can get the best out of him. Surely, he can be a good short-term stopgap for Pogba.
